Let go of the baggage.....

Yesterday as I am driving to work I notice that the passenger seat belt light is flashing ~ I have so much stuff in the seat beside me that the seat belt indicator thinks that the seat belt needs to be buckled. I chuckled and think to myself, "I sure have a lot of stuff, maybe it is time to get rid of some of it". The same is true about my past. I carry so much stuff (baggage)around ~ regret, pain, ill will, all of it is heavy and weighes me down. God does not want us to let the mistakes of our past weigh us dowm. That is why He allows us to repent and ask Him for forgiveness. Once we ask God for forgiveness, He forgives us and He doesn't expect us to carry that burden any longer. He also does not expect us to continue to commit that same sin we just repented of.

I think it is important that we learn from our mistakes and allow our mistakes to keep us humble, but it is important to not dwell on the things that we should let go of. If we don't let go of them and we continue to allow then to weigh us down then we are not freeing our minds and ourselves to be able to give our all to God and focus on fulfilling His will for our lives.

I love this verse ~ it is a wonderful reminder from God. ~ Jeremiah 29:11 ~ For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.
